Brief Description

The Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting the ninth annual Tour De Lopez on Saturday April 28, 2012. This popular bike ride is a non-competitive road tour with approximately 5, 10, 18 & 31 mile routes through the scenic landscape of Lopez on our rural roads. Many of you have been a part of this fun family-friendly event for several years now – we recognize many of the same names each year!  Please remember to share the road with cars and follow all safe bicycling rules. We have designed the route to keep you off the main roads and post the route so local vehicles can avoid the areas but the roads are not closed to traffic.  We encourage participants to consider making this a weekend getaway – it's a great opportunity to see what Lopez has to offer.

We don't have specific ferry times yet but will post those as well as parking information as it is confirmed. Washington State Ferries has always been very cooperative in working with us to facilitate this event and we appreciate their efforts.

Registration will open Feb. 1st  and be available online through Active.com or by mail with the Chamber of Commerce office (360-468-4664).  We limit the number of riders to 900 so be sure to register early – this has been a sell-out event for the past several years. Registration fees are $35 adults, $25 children under 12, $100 family rate for 4 (2 adults + 2 kids), lunch only is $15. All registration includes lunch and snacks along the route.

NEW THIS YEAR!! There will be 2 Check-In/Start locations for you – Odlin Park for those arriving Saturday morning on the ferry and Lopez Village Park for those already on the Island. The Village location will allow you to come to the Village early Saturday, enjoy coffee, treats or breakfast, park your car, go on the ride and end back in the Village. Check-in is required to receive your lunch/snacks pass as well as a route map and details about the days ride and activities.  The tour routes are marked with our "unique" recycled bikes and include marked designated rest stops with snacks, bulk water (please bring your own water bottles), medical assistance and sani-cans available.

ALSO NEW THIS YEAR!! Your ride will conclude in the Village at Lopez Community Center grounds with a BBQ lunch presented by the Galley Restaurant from 12:30-3pm for bicyclists as well as local residents.  There will be 2 protein options, a vegetarian option, 3 salads, fresh fruit and of course cookies! A Beer Garden will also be a new addition. The outdoor pavilion on the Center grounds will make a great stage for music during your lunch. We are working on confirming a band.

Our Village has taken a new shape over the past few years. We have old business's in new locations and new businesses in old locations – some have closed and new ones have opened. Explore around and enjoy your afternoon – detailed Village Maps will be available.

Hope to see you April 28th!

Fees include lunch and snacks on the route:
     $35 adults
     $25 children 12 & under and
     $100 per family (2adults, 2 kids – 4 lunch passes).
Lunch for non-riders will be available for $15.

We encourage participants to consider making this a weekend getaway. There will be several other events and activities for you to enjoy on the Island. See Weekend Activities for more details about all events for the weekend.
